‘Funhouse MacBeth’ Opens at Kentwood High

High School Drama choices are plenty this spring, including the opening of Kentwood Drama’s rendition of ‘Funhouse Macbeth.” Performances run Thursday-Friday from May 2-11 at Kentwood High School’s Performing Arts Center.

Described as a “modern and eccentric take of the classic Shakespearean drama, warping it and personifying it into a brand new work of art,” Auburn’s Synapse Circus Center is reported to be integrated into the performance.

Kentwood Players spokesperson notes that Macbeth and Lady Macbeth “are uprooted from their castle and place instead as the ambition runners of the Funhouse.” Macbeth encounter witches in the forest and his desire is to become the ringmaster of a circus.

Tickets are $10, available at the door.
