Kentridge Players’ ‘Into the Woods’ Opens May 1

Kentridge Players’ Spring Musical is ‘Into the Woods,’ opening this Wednesday, May 1, and will run through Saturday, May 11. Performances are at Kentridge High School’s Performance Center.

James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone’s favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless, yet relevant, piece… and a rare modern classic. The Tony Award-winning book and score are both enchanting and touching, according to a spokesperson for the Kentridge Players.

The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King’s Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch’s curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone’s wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.

The school’s spring musical always features a large, talented cast and incredible choreography and music.

Shows run Wednesday through Saturday with curtain time at 7:00 pm. Extra Saturday matinees are at 1:30 pm.

Tickets can be purchased at the door; however, weekend evening performances often sell out. To preorder tickets online, go to https://www.showtix4u.com/events/1666.
