Tahoma School District Levy Information Meeting – Central Services Center

March 21, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Board Room at Central Services Center, 25720 Maple Valley-Black Diamond Road SE

Three evening meetings are scheduled to present information and answer questions from community members about the April 24 Educational Programs and Operations levy.

The meetings will be held at 6:30 p.m. on March 21 and 29, and April 2. The March 21 and April 2 meetings are in the Board Room at Central Services Center, 25720 Maple Valley-Black Diamond Road SE. The March 29 meeting is at Summit Trail Middle School, 25600 Summit-Landsburg Road SE, Ravensdale.

In addition to a presentation of levy facts, each meeting will feature a panel of Tahoma teachers, paraeducators, counselors, coaches, principals, and students. The panelists will share their perspective about how levy funds are used and are available to answer questions.

The proposed EP&O levy is for two years and would collect $10.7 million in 2019 and $11.8 million in 2020. The levy provides funding for programs and staffing that are not paid for by state education money. The School Board approved running a two-year EP&O levy after a four-year levy request failed to pass in February.

The School Board is in the process of reviewing programs and staffing cuts, in the event that the levy fails. The board will begin deciding how budget cuts can be made at its meeting on March 20.
