Every once in a while, we want to reach out to our visitors and let you know how much we appreciate your participation in making Fairwood Communinty News what it is. We've been up and running for less than
a year now, but it feels like we've been dialoguing with you much longer than that.

For that, we want to thank you for utilizing us in so many ways.

Trends Indicate We're On the Right Track
The Internet has revolutionized the way we communicate, the amount of information we can gather, and the ability to quickly respond to delivering news via web as opposed to print.

With the recent closure of large newspapers such as the printed P-I
and less frequent printings of other smaller papers, the newspaper industry continues to face economic challenges that appear to be permanently changing the industry. Denver's Rocky Mountain News, the Chicago Tribune, the Minneapolis Star Tribune, the Los Angeles Times, and the Philidelphia Inquirer all have delivered bad news of threatened bankruptcy and closed presses. So much has changed since we launched Fairwood Community News just eight month ago.

Whatever "newspapering" will be in the next decade or so is anyone's guess. For now, we feel we're "on track" with the best way to deliver news that connects our Community.

When I moved from the editor's position for a printed local newspaper into producing a purely web version of the news, it frankly was quite liberating in too many ways to list. Moving to this venue also made so much sense.

Some have said that Fairwood Community News is on a trend that is in the early stages of a new shift in newspapering. Some think the idea is a bit ahead of its time; I'd like to take credit for "knowing all," but I do think we're well positioned to serve you, the Greater Fairwood Community.

What I would like most is to get all of you and your neighbors "on board" to utilize all the capabilities of the site - it's ready to serve you in so many ways! Below are a few ways in which you can easily grow this "grass roots" news source's success. We're proud that our success is because of you.
