Meeker Loses Beloved Teacher
Coach Ron Colston

Suffering this year from ongoing illnesses this year, Ron Colston, veteran teacher and coach at Meeker Middle School, lost his battle on March 16, 2010. He was 63.

A resident of Kent, Colston was born in Seattle and graduated from Renton High School, where he was a part of the State Championship Team for Basketball. He was also briefly a part of the Dallas Cowboys Football Team.

A teacher for the Kent School District for the past 30 years, Colston coached a variety of sports including basketball, volleyball, football and softball.

A public memorial service has been scheduled for Monday, March 22, at 4 pm at the Kentwood High School Gym.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Meeker Middle School ASB or their Athletics Program. Checks can be made out to Meeker Middle School ASB and can be sent to the school to the attention of Mrs. Hinckley (cashier) at 12600 SE 192nd St., Renton, WA 98058.

Dawn Cashmere (Correa) said: Jeff, I was your neighbor next door (in Kent) for many years. I was heart broken when my Dad told me. (Joseph Correa) Your Dad had that big booming voice, and the kindest heart. And he was so very young. My Dad and your Dad would talk at the white picket fence and share the happenings in the neighborhood. My family and I are so sorry for your loss. We hope you can find happiness in the fond memories you have of your Dad. Take Care. Dawn Cashmere (Correa)
