Fairwood Library Treats Neighbors
To 'Four Witnesses' Concert

Cello quartet Four Witnesses treated Fairwood Library patrons to a lovely treat of classics on Sunday afternoon, February 7. It was an intimate crowd, but all patrons were able to enjoy the hour-long concert as they went about their tasks. The talented family's rich tones and classic music was well worth taking a pause to breath, relax and enjoy.
Four Witnesses is led by mother Ji Youn, a Korean immigrant, began playing the cello at age 13. Son Daniel Lee is a cellist in the Interlake Chamber Orchestra and his younger sister, Grace, is principal cellist in the Interlake Concert Orchestra. Older sister Judy currently attends Bellevue College as a pre-med student. Ji Youn currently teaches cello to a number of aspiring students.

Selections included "Salut d'amour" by E. Elgar, a moving "Obilivion" by Astor Piazzolla, "Les Larmes de Jacqueline" by Jacques Offenbach, and captivating "Libertango" by Astor Piazzolla. The concert ended with a treat for the younger crowd as they played the familiar theme song from Beauty and the Beast. The afternoon concert was sponsored by Fairwood's Friends of the Library, a non-profit group that supports the Fairwood Library by volunteering, hosting fund-raising activities, sponsoring programs and services, and increasing awareness of the library’s vital community role. |
Past projects of the Friends include raising money for children, teen, and adult programs, such as English as a Second Language, Story Time, and the Summer Reading Program. Membership offers volunteers the opportunity to share views, donate time, and lend one's talents to make Fairwood Library the best it can be.
